  1. Where does technology fit in grades K-3? And, what types of technology will enhance learning? That is the discussion in our district. Comments?

  2. I think technology needs integrating as early as K-3. Technology can be teacher lead or student lead. You can start using simple web based activities and allow the students to explore. I would venture to guess that K-3 students know more about technology than we think. Teach them to use Microsoft Word and type out a list of spelling words (1-3 grades). With K, there are many different websites that have educational games they might already be familiar with. Sesame Street has a letter identification games, number identification games, and color games. The options are endless. Just a thought. :)

  3. I agree. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter uses the computer to check on the baby panda at the San Diego Zoo live Panda Cam. We talk on MSN Live and Skype with video calls. She already sees the power of technology and communication.

Now we need to work with that in our classrooms. I think your are on the right path. I will be anxious to hear how blog writing works for you.

  4. I am really inspired by this first grade teacher's blog. Each student has their own link to blogs they've posted that parents/teachers/family/etc. can see and comment on. There are audio clips of students reading, scanned artwork and projects, and photo slide shows. I would LOVE to learn how to incorporate and use all of these different things into my classroom blog eventually! I have a lot to learn -- but I think the possibilities are so incredibly exciting!
